My Plastic-Free Dental Routine

Hi everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today’s post is about my plastic-free dental routine and how you can incorporate these eco-friendly and plastic-free products into your daily life. I will be telling you about the infamous Bite toothpaste tabs, the most aesthetically pleasing bamboo toothbrush, and I’ll even tell you about a plastic-free floss! I hope you enjoy today’s post. Happy reading!

Bite Toothpaste Tablets

If you are a fan of the show “Shark Tank” then you probably already know what Bite is. Bite is a company that is trying to reduce the amount of toothpaste tubes that end up in landfills. They don’t use any plastic when it comes to the products or packaging, which is why shopping sustainably is always better. Plastic toothpaste tubes are horrible for the environment. Every single toothpaste tube we have ever used still exists today and using these toothpaste tabs are a great switch. I have been using these tabs for a few weeks now and it’s been really nice. It took me a while to get the hang of them, but now I love it. You take a toothpaste tab out of the jar and you bite down on the tab. Next, you wet your toothbrush and start brushing. Once you start brushing, it feels just like toothpaste out of a tube! It’s really easy and the mint flavor is so refreshing. I highly recommend you give Bite Toothpaste Tablets a try and if you don’t like it then at least you can say you’ve used it. The Bite website also has other products for sale like floss, mouthwash tablets, and bamboo toothbrushes. The shipping was super fast as well! There are also other plastic-free alternatives for toothpaste that come in an aluminium tube and can be recycled infinitely. I’ve linked that right here!

Bamboo Toothbrushes are the best!

Let’s talk about our toothbrushes! Just like how every toothpaste tube still exists, so does every toothbrush. The average toothbrush is 100% plastic, let that sink in. Those bristles cleaning your teeth are all plastic. Plastic toothbrushes take over a thousand years to decompose, but a bamboo toothbrush takes about 4-6 months! I switched to bamboo toothbrushes last summer after watching a video of someone holding about 30 toothbrushes in their hand after cleaning up a beach. I absolutely love my toothbrush and I will never go back to plastic. It was one of the first swaps I made and I really wish they sold them in stores, so I could have found them earlier! The bristles are so soft on my teeth unlike a plastic toothbrush. I will never go back to a plastic one. I highly recommend a 100% bamboo toothbrush because it’s biodegradable and it’s one of the easiest ways to help the planet. Some bamboo toothbrushes still have plastic bristles on them, which doesn’t make it biodegradable, so look out for that. The next time you put toothbrushes on your shopping list, think about buying a bamboo toothbrush pack instead. You can purchase packs of them on Amazon, but as always I will link eco-friendly websites below! I hope you make this easy switch!

Floss! Floss! Floss!

Last, but not least, let’s talk about floss! I know some people floss and some people don’t, but I can help you find one that is plastic-free. I bought floss made with corn, which is biodegradable and compostable, from Net Zero. That one was a little thick for my teeth, but it worked just as well as a plastic one. Bite also has floss like I said earlier and I hope to try that out soon. The average floss is made out of 100% plastic and switching from that would make a big difference. I don’t like the idea of plastic cleaning my teeth anymore, so I’m glad that I’ve found eco-friendly alternatives!

Switching around your dental routine is one of the easiest things you can do to use less plastic. I didn’t switch my toothpaste and floss till a few months ago, but I started using a bamboo toothbrush over the summer. It’s all about the progress that you make and you should always take it one step at a time. My dental routine is now guilt-free and I want yours to be like this too. Like I always say, little things make a big difference. Thank you for reading today’s post! I really hope you liked it and you incorporate these swaps into your life. Have a great rest of your day!
