Hi everyone! I wanted to spread awareness about this new bill that was introduced in Congress this year!! Here are some ways that you could support this bill from your own home. Before you start reading here are a few reasons why we need to hold the plastic industry accountable and pass this bill:
-91% of plastics don’t get recycled/can’t be recycled.
-By 2050, scientists say there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean (as someone who cleans up trash, it looks like that could happen sooner).
-99% of plastics are made from fossil fuels.
-Plastic is extremely toxic for our health
-We ingest an entire credit card worth of plastic every week.
-This bill could help create jobs in waste management, reuse and refill stations, and so much more.

Write to Representatives and Senators!
I wrote to all 10 Maryland Congresspeople in March! It was just a short letter saying that we need to take action before it’s too late. Here is a website to learn who all of your state’s politicians are along with their emails and phone numbers. I know for some of the congress people they have a website that can help find where to send an actual letter to!
