Sustainable Cleaning Products

By: Maija Elizabeth

I have been in a spring cleaning mood lately and wanted to share the products I use in my home that maybe you will want to bring into yours! There’s a lot of different cleaners in the eco space, but most people want convenience while also keeping the planet in mind. Today I will be sharing the brands that I find the most effective while also not harming me or the planet. We are talking about plastic-free options, non-toxic, impressive certifications, and more. Let’s get started!

GROVE

Grove is an online marketplace where you can get a variety of eco-friendly and low/ no tox brands, including their own. They needed to go first because that is definitely the most used in my house! Grove Co. offers concentrates of their cleaners in small glass refills so you can add them to a previous spray bottle if you would like. We have their reusable glass spray bottles with the silicone cover on the bottom to protect it from breaking. Their multi-surface cleaner is our most used. It’s really effective at getting things like grease or food from the counters, grime from bathroom sinks without being toxic. Grove Co. offers an auto-ship service and is also available at Target making it more convenient to be sustainable for a lot of people! What I appreciate most is their initiative to eliminate single-use plastics. They are EWG Verified, Leaping Bunny Approved,  EPA Safer Choice, USDA BioPreferred, BPI Certified, FSC Certified, and more!

SEVENTH GENERATION

Seventh Generation has been a staple brand throughout my life! Lately, I’ve been a huge fan of their laundry detergent concentrate, which is one pump of detergent and it personally lasts me several months as one person. They make a foaming dish soap spray that is so effective at cleaning tough stains on dishes, surfaces, clothes, and shoes. Seventh Generations disinfecting wipes and multi-surface sprays are also exceptional. While not being plastic-free, Seventh Generation has a bunch of amazing certifications. They are Made-Safe Certified, EPA Safer Choice Certified, B-Corp Certified, Leaping Bunny Certified, and more!

METHOD

Method is a very common brand you will see in stores nationwide! My favorite products from them would definitely be the glass cleaner and the wood floor cleaner that I use for mopping. All of Method’s cleaning supplies are so effective at getting anything up. Method also has shower cleaners, hand soaps, hair and body soaps, antibacterial sprays, and so much more. I really appreciate that Method offers refill bottles for some of their products, although they come in plastic. As I was looking into what Method has to offer, I noticed that they have a new reusable soap pump and concentrate kit that looks mostly plastic-free! Method is FSC Certified, Leaping Bunny Certified, an Ellen MacArthur Foundation partner, they use RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil, and Plastic Bank partners as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read today’s post! I also really love Blueland and Mrs. Meyers products that I will talk about more in the future. Imperfect sustainability is still a step in the right direction. If you’re trying to get started on a sustainability journey, I hope you will consider these brands. Let me know in the comments what your favorite brands are or if you found this helpful. Don’t forget to subscribe below to stay up to date on my posts because I will forget to post elsewhere about it…. Oops. Have a great two weeks! 🙂
